I just recently bought the Nvidia GeForce 240GT. I get good frame rates but I get some stutters now and then and I'm thinking that's because my very very outdated CPU (Pentium D) is bottlenecking. I'm looking in the future to upgrade that too. Possibly some better ram as well. I only have 2 GB of some 800Mhz off brand stuff which isn't the greatest.

Anyhow, I don't run AntiAliasing or any Anistrophic Filtering, I turn Soften Smoke edges off, and usually turn shadow off as well. I think my model detail was "normal" and all my texture settings were "normal" as well. My filter mode was on Bilinear as well I think.

Anyhow, I am running a FPS configuration at the moment and don't really know how I feel about it. I can hit upwards of almost 500 fps, but the graphics are terrible xD!

Thanks for the good comments guys. Appreciate it.

Cheers.

Haha Ok cause I was gonna say dude if you are getting 125 FPS with full graphics and that size res there is something F***ed up. Razz
I'm running 4x antialiasing, anistrophic filtering, extra detail (texture, map, specular), shadows ect. on 1024x768 and getting a pretty solid 100FPS.

And yea, sounds like you could use some more RAM and or a new CPU setup. RAM is fairly cheap now days, wouldn't hurt to bump up a few GB. CPU's (depending on type) can really "break the bank" if ya know what I mean.

Yea, I did a little shopping around a while back and my mother board will support up to one of the newest quad cores on the socket 775, but they were expensive at the time. Now that the i7s came out, hopefully the prices will drop and I can get a steal on a really nice quad core.

The only problem with ram is that depending on the bit of your system (32 or 64) is how much ram it will utilize.

I run a 32 bit system and I don't think my components are 64 bit compliant, so the most ram my comp will utilize is 3 gigs. which means that if i buy two 2GB sticks, it'll only use 1 of them. Mad , so I'm better off just getting some 1066Mhz ram, and only getting 2GB of it. So i'm in a little bit of a pinch xD! affraid

Yea I run a quad CPU 64-bit system, and I looooove it. Razz

True about RAM though, if you run 32-bit having any more RAM is worthless. Sad

As to the i7's, I've never personally dealt with one but I imagine they are quite the rage. I run quad Q8200's, its not a bad processor, but it can't be OC'ed that easily and it only runs at 2.33Ghz stock. Neutral
I've read somewhere that the Q8200's can be upgraded to the Q6600 series rather easily. If I remember right, the Q66's run somewhere in the 2.4Ghz range stock, but can be OC'ed easier than the Q82's. I've also read that the 66's can be OC'ed to 3.6Ghz comfortably (assuming you have decent cooling of course). Now that is impressive for a 2.4Ghz stock chip. Exclamation
